Tatami Waraku custom sizes

Waraku tatami mats can be made to order.
The sizes we can manufacture range from 50 to 95 cm in width and 85 to 200 cm in length. The thickness is 3 cm.
*All custom tatami mats are mats with fabric rims. Please note that we are unable to produce rimless tatami mats.

Measuring method

Please identify the room floor area where you want to place the tatami and measure the length and width in metric units.

For a room of 8 m x 6 m, there will be 12 tatami mats of 95 cm x 2 m each.

*Each tatami is made in a uniform size to match the area where the tatami will be placed.
We deliver from a single tatami mat and to fully enjoy it you can choose your favorite tatami fabric rim.

Presentation of the tatami cover mat

For the tatami cover mat, we use a high quality woven mat from the Kumamoto brand.

Mr. Shunichi Fukagawa

High quality grass is used, and we take time weaving it with effort and love. We weave special mats such as Honma Ichimatsu, Meseki-omote and Aoryubin-omote.

About Hikime-ori and Meseki-ori weaving

Waraku rimmed tatami mats use a common Hikime-ori cover mat, while rimeless tatami mats use finely woven Meseki-ori mats in which the threads across the width are about half as thick (7 mm).
