For the rush-grass mats, we use high quality Hikime-ori (see *1) “Hinoharuka” products from the Kumamoto brand manufactured by Mr. Sumio Matsukawa.

We pay special attention to soil preparation and use homemade organic fertilizers to grow our rush-grass.
Tatami rims
Choose from three colors for the pure cotton rims.
Tatami rims are the fabric attached along the border length of the tatami.
It prevents wear on the corners of the cover mat and fills the gaps that tend to form when the tatami mats are placed together.

Wooden frame
We also have a wooden frame that functions similarly to the threshold in a Japanese style room.

High quality grass is used. We take time weaving it with effort and love.
We weave special mats such as Honma Ichimatsu, Meseki-omote and Aoryubin.

Wooden frame
Please note that wooden frames cannot be used for rimless tatami mats due to dimensional accuracy issues.
About Hikime-ori and Meseki-ori weaving

Waraku rimmed tatami mats use a common Hikime-ori cover mat, while rimless tatami mats use finely woven Meseki-ori mats in which the threads across the width are about half as thick (7 mm).
